Barcelona conmemora el octavo aniversario de los atentados del 17A

Barcelona has commemorated the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 17A on La Rambla de Barcelona and in Cambrils (Tarragona) this Sunday with a remembrance event at Pla de l’Os de La Rambla, the scene of the events in Barcelona, with a minute of silence followed by a floral offering from victims, families, politicians, security forces, and entities.

Victims, families, and institutional representatives such as the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa; the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni; the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull; the Government Delegate, Carlos Prieto, and the Interior Councillor of the Generalitat attended the event, which began at 10 am.

Political leaders like Barcelona’s deputy mayors Laia Bonet, Albert Batlle, and Jordi Valls, and representatives of parties such as Ferran Pedret (PSC), Jordi Turull (Junts), Ester Capella (ERC), David Cid (Comuns), Sílvia Orriols (AC), Dani Sirera (PP), and Gonzalo de Oro (Vox) were also present, among others.

After a minute of silence, a floral offering was made with the background music of ‘Cant dels Ocells’ on the cello, a music piece made famous by Pau Casals as a hymn to peace.

First, there was an offering from victims and families (who occupied the front rows during the event), followed by the main institutional figures, representatives of Barcelona municipal groups and police forces, representatives of political parties, and finally representatives of various entities such as Friends of La Rambla.
