Concert del «Rèquiem» de Mozart a la Sagrada Familia de Barcelona

The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona hosted a concert of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s «Requiem» on Monday night for an audience under 35 years old, one day before the staged production premieres at the Liceu opera house.

In this symphonic performance, only the «Requiem in D minor» can be heard, with conductor Giovanni Antonini leading the Liceu Symphony Orchestra, and featuring the voices of Emoke Baráth, Marina Viotti, Levy Sekgapane, and Nicola Ulivieri.

Tickets for this special performance were distributed for free through a raffle, with nearly 15,000 people registering, and 835 double tickets awarded to the under 35 age group.

The staging of this work at the Liceu will mark the directorial debut of Italian stage director and dramaturg Romeo Castellucci at the Barcelona Lyric Theatre.

This proposal based on Mozart’s final work premiered at the AIX-en-Provence festival and will be performed at the Liceu in seven shows between this Tuesday and February 26th.
