The Digital Lottery Defense Association (Dedit) delivered a total of 652 signatures from lottery administrators on Wednesday to request the regulation of online sales and prevent this from imposing a single channel in the sector, as reported by a dedit.
The statement calls for the promotion of an «open and real» dialogue with representative associations and stakeholders in the sector to adopt specific measures before the legal uncertainty situation due to the lack of specific regulation of online sales channels.
The president of The Dedic, Jon Urkiola, recalled that the sector did not regulate online lottery sales for 20 years, and despite the Congress approving a proposal that did not request the mentioned regulation, «not even a step was taken.»
«Lottery administrators do not want digital channels to impose on us, we want to compete technically and technologically online,» said Urkiola, who noted that sales platforms and online sales pages have been operating based on the current game since 2011.
Finally, Dedit believes that future rules to govern this situation must be the result of a «transparent and participatory» process that takes into account the market reality and the interests of all parties involved.
