El Setman Europeu d’Energia Sostenible a Catalunya: activitats a tot el territori

Catalunya will celebrate the European Sustainable Energy Week with activities throughout the territory from Tuesday to Thursday, under the theme «Step to Action, Change Energy» to raise awareness about the need for a decarbonized energy model.

These umbrella activities will also take place until the end of July, and this edition proposes actions related to households, mobility, and renewable energies, as reported by the Ministry of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat in a statement on Monday.

In the household sector, one of the recommended actions to reduce energy demand is to use a heat pump to heat and cool the house or generate hot water, and a set of tools is made available to citizens to optimize energy consumption and contracting.

Regarding mobility, the use of electric vehicles stands out, and information on these, such as the efficient vehicle calculator to measure the energetic, environmental, and economic costs for citizens.

In the field of renewable energies, it is reminded that energy communities are a tool that allows access to renewable energy and sharing it.

One of the highlighted actions of the Week will be «Open doors to energy transition,» which starting on Tuesday will allow visits to renewable energy or energy efficiency installations of different public buildings and facilities of the Generalitat.

Additionally, workshops, courses, and itinerant exhibitions will delve into issues such as energy contracting and management, self-consumption with photovoltaic solar panels, energy efficiency in households, electric vehicles, recharging infrastructure, and the rehabilitation and energy certification of buildings.

The European Sustainable Energy Week is an initiative of the European Commission, and the campaign in Catalonia is organized by the Catalan Energy Institute of the Generalitat; the Provincial Councils of Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, and Lleida; the Network of Cities and Towns towards Sustainability; the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, and the Council of Local Initiatives for the Environment of the Girona Regions (Cilma).
