The Vaixell is once again in a semi-final of La Copa de la Reina! The current champions of this competition (and all others) have been eliminated by Madrid CFF (1-2) after a serious match, Determined thanks to strategy. And now there are only two steps left to revive their crown of the cup.
Pajor opens the way
The match couldn’t have started better at Fernando Torres in Fuenlabrada. The scent of the striker’s goal quickly appeared when Marta Torrejón lifted a ball on a front free kick that the lone Pole converted into the first goal (0-1, min. 6). Although Romeu Pears’ team achieved the most difficult part in the first few minutes, this didn’t change the game plan much, as Madrid sought to live until the end and not give away too much space.

However, Ewa Pajor missed a chance for more than half an hour when Aitana played her in, but she sent it too high. But in closed games, strategic pieces can be essential, and Barça was confident to secure the qualification. And with Marta Torrejón, who assisted in the first goal and scored the second. In a tight corner, Aitana hung a ball that the captain finished in the back of the net today (0-2, min. 41).
In the second half, Madrid tried to reduce the gap with an initial push that the defenders managed to contain. This was essential to ensure the qualification was not in danger at any time, although Pere Romeu’s team repeatedly ran into Madrid’s defensive wall. Neither Graham’s individual pieces nor the fresh legs from the bench, like Claudia Pina, could find the third goal.
Qualified, once again
In fact, the score only changed in the last play of the match, when from a corner served by Madrid, Cometti finished powerfully at the near post, beating Cu Coll (1-2, min. 90 +4). There was no time for more. The referee blew the final whistle as the locals celebrated the goal and, finally, Cup semi-finalists once again.
