The director of the Gremi de Restauració de Barcelona, Roger Pallarols, celebrated in statements to Europa Press that the terraces of bars and restaurants in the plaza del Sol de Gràcia can reopen until 1 in the morning from this Friday after the cut in hours decreed by the City Council in 2022.
As reported by ‘El Periódico de Catalunya’, this decision will remain in place until the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) definitively pronounces on the resolution of the Administrative Litigation Court 12, which annulled the cut earlier this year and which the city council subsequently appealed.
Pallarols has argued that «what truly causes disturbances for neighbors» are the outdoor drinking parties, incivility, and public disorder, not the terraces.
Therefore, he has stated that the Gremi will continue to fight to «eliminate all hourly restrictions» that go beyond the current ordinance, so that the hours of all terraces in Barcelona are the same.

Consulted on the judicial decision, sources from the city council have recalled that this is the «provisional application of a non-final ruling» and they hope that the appeal filed to defend the cut in hours will be resolved favorably.
In fact, they have argued that during this time, it has been demonstrated that the cut is «necessary, justified, and effective in reducing noise in the plaza del Sol and preserving the rest of the neighbors».
