The Minister of Justice and Democratic Quality of the Generalitat, Ramon Espadaler, has claimed the link between the General Directorate of Religious Affairs (DGAR) and the local world, where he has stated that «it is where places of worship are opened and the space for dialogue is concretized.»
He said this on Tuesday at the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the DGAR, held at Casa del Mar in Barcelona and attended by the Director General of Religious Affairs, Ramon Bassas, and has brought together the people who have led it over this quarter of a century, among others.
Espadaler has emphasized that the history of the General Directorate has «allowed something substantive to be done in these times that is to dialogue, to be able to speak from absolutely different perspectives,» and has urged to work hand in hand with the local world, religious entities, and the Departments of the Generalitat, in his words.
The Minister of Justice has also expressed his concern to guarantee the right to freedom of worship, referring to some recent events.
On the other hand, Ramon Bassas has emphasized «the consolidation of institutional relations between the Generalitat and the confessions, the normalization of religious fact in public space, and the evolution of religiosity and places of worship in Catalonia,» as key axes that have marked the trajectory of the organization.
