Idles encenen el rock a Barcelona en el primer dia de primavera

The British group Idles kicked off the first day of spring sound in Barcelona on Thursday afternoon at Parc del Fòrum with a no-holds-barred rock concert where they revisited their discography.

The familiar faces of the festival, who have participated on several occasions, played on one of the main stages of Spring Sound for the first time this year.

From the opening «Colossus,» a song that builds from a calm start to a frenetic finish, fronted by singer Joe Talbot, the band seamlessly linked songs from their five albums without missing a beat.

They performed hits like the classic sing-along «Mother,» «Never Fight a Man with a Perm,» and «Divide and Conquer,» along with newer tracks like «Mr. Motivator,» «Car Crash,» and «Gift Horse.»

Idles, who have voiced support for Palestine at different times, saved two of their standout tracks, «Danny Nedelko» and «Rottweiler,» for the finale, capping off a concert lasting an hour and fifteen minutes that drew a large audience.

A diverse international audience gathered at the stages of Spring Sound, with the color green from Charli XCX’s album dominating the day.

Among the early performances of the day were Rigoberta Bandini, offering a half-hour taste of their tour showcasing the album «Jesus Superstar,» British-Filipino band Beabadoobee, and New York folk singer Cassandra Jenkins.

The first day of Spring Sound was highlighted by Charli XCX’s performance with Troye Sivan, the only European date of the «Sweat Tour» following its success in North America.
