The era of truth is approaching. Barça and Madrid face a duel that could mark Sunday’s 2024/25 League. To prepare fully, we compiled the 10 most interesting facts from the previous part.
Flick can adapt to Guardiola
The dominance of Barça against Madrid in this season’s duels is undeniable. The Catalans won all three matches: the first-round classic (0-4), the Super Spanish Cup (2-5), and the Copa del Rey final in 3-2 cartridges. If Barça wins on Sunday, Flick would match Guardiola’s record from 2008 to 2010, with victories in the first four classics as a coach. Santpedor reached five.
Barça, a nightmare for Ancelotti
The Blaugrana team is a tough rival for Ancelotti. During his coaching career at AC Milan, PSG, and Real Madrid, he faced the Catalans 25 times and lost 12 of those duels. He hasn’t lost to any other team as much.
Three out of three at the moment
Barça won all three matches against Madrid this season. This feat has only been achieved by Barça once before in the 82/83 season when they faced off in five matches, ending with four wins and one draw.
Lewandowski could reach a century
Since joining in the summer of 2022, the Polish forward has scored 99 goals. If he scores on Sunday, he will reach a hundred and be among the fastest players in the club’s history to achieve this milestone.
Mbappé could enter the history books
The French forward, the big signing for Madrid this season, could match the goal-scoring records of Iván Zamorano in this classic. Across all competitions, the former PSG player scored 36 goals in 52 matches, and if he scores on Sunday, he will equal Zamorano’s record of 37 goals in 45 matches in the 1992/93 season.
