The Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Silvia Paneque, has emphasized the importance of sanitation challenges in providing clean water to areas without treatment plants. This was reported by the Generalitat government in a statement on Saturday.
Paneque made these remarks at the inauguration of the Carbonell de CAN treatment plant in Caldes de Malavella (Girona), which received an investment of around 2 million euros and serves over 2,800 residents. The facility has a design flow of 492 cubic meters per day and Paneque stated that sanitation «improves the quality of life for Catalans.»
With this treatment plant, which also serves the Santa Seclina area, Caldes de Malavella will have two operational sanitation systems. Additionally, plans are underway for the expansion of purification in Caldes and sanitation in Solà Gros.
Paneque highlighted the excellent work done by the Generalitat and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) in preserving water resources under challenging conditions in Catalonia. She expressed respect for the effort and experience put into this work by the government.
The event also saw the participation of ACA Director Josep Lluís Armenter and Caldes de Malavella Mayor Salvador Balliu, among other authorities.
By maintaining a focus on sanitation challenges and the importance of water treatment plants in Catalonia, the government is working towards improving the overall quality of life for its residents.
