The Municipal Finance Institute (IMH) of the Barcelona City Council was the winner of the 2025 Distinction Awards for its new transparency and open data portal for the first time in June 2024. Specifically, the project «The transparency portal of the Municipal Institute of Barcelona with open data» was recognized in the category », the information that can be compelled to publish. Barcelona’s portal was chosen from a total of 56 nominations, submitted by 32 local entities.
The awards are organized by Raga España, a red academic of the Apierto government. Raga España is part of Raga International, an academic network and institutions that promote values and actions related to open government/state to all and America. The awarding of this distinction, in the Big City category, recognizes the new transparency portal of IMH, launched in June 2024, which incorporates a section of open data where access to information and tax fines is available to citizens, which was not available a year ago. Specifically, the portal allows you to consult and download data sets and traffic fines and IBI and IAE. Currently, traffic fines account for 83% of total downloads, 917, followed by views and downloads of IBI and IAE.
IMH intends to incorporate new data sets to continue moving towards transparency in its activity, with the publication, in 2025, of Guardians, IVTM, Fords, and Public of Waste.
Jordi Valls, the deputy director of economy, finance, economic promotion, and tourism, believes that «this recognition highlights the commitment and effort made by IMH to publish information in a periodic, updated, and truthful manner to understand the citizen, it is the origin of income.
The award ceremony will take place at the FEMP headquarters in Madrid on May 22, with the presence of the highest officials of the collaborating institutions and the Secretary of State for Public Office, the President of the Transparency and Good Governance Council, the President of the Spanish Data Protection, and the President of the Independent Authority for Information Protection.

The new website reinforces the municipal commitment to Law 19/2014, of December 29, for transparency, access to public information, and good governance, developing a website for the institute that adds to all the information and data already available on the Local Council portal.
