The compliance head of ERC, Lluís Mombiela, received on Wednesday in a meeting with his predecessor, Xavier Mombiela, the documents related to the investigation of the party’s B structure and the case of defamatory posters against the brothers Pasqual and Ernest Maragall and Alzheimer.
Sources consulted by Europa Press have explained that this meeting took place after it was known that the new compliance manager had not found the documents related to this investigation from his predecessor, after which they were given to him digitally and on paper.
The new person will review the documentation received and add «new procedures», so the investigation will continue based on the assessment of the new person in charge, who may add or repeat statements.
In December, the previous compliance manager prepared a provisional report of the investigation and the new one will continue investigating until a definitive document is obtained, after which the process will be directed to the ERC Guarantees Commission.

On the other hand, the former compliance officer has issued a statement to «X», in which he has denied having «deleted or hidden any document» and has detailed that he used tools made available by the party to store them in a location where only he had access, with the aim of protecting confidentiality.
«I have always avoided saving information subject to investigation in folders or applications to which the ERC address or third parties linked to the party may have access,» detailed Xavier Mombiela.
He reported that the day before his cessation, he did not trust the new party leadership, so he made a backup of all files because he «considered his security compromised and because he suspected it would be dismissed and would have to transfer this information.
