Els membres del creuer generen més ingressos que despeses a l’Ajuntament de Barcelona, segons UB

The members of the transit cruise in Barcelona generate more income than expenses for the City Council through the payment of the tourist establishments tax, according to a study by the University of Barcelona (UB), reported this Tuesday.

The study, conducted at the request of the International Cruise Association, noted that transit cruise passengers pay a tax of 6 or 7 euros per person per day, depending on whether their stopover is over or under 12 hours.

Specifically, it estimated that these travelers paid 14.5 million euros in 2024 from this tax, of which 11.6 million were managed by the council.

The report ensures that the contribution of cruise members to the total collection of the tourist establishments tax has increased from 3.7% in 2012 to 9.3% in 2023.

On the other hand, cruises represented 4.1% of the city’s visitors and contributed 7.5% of the collection managed by the City Council through the tourism tax.
