Un membre del Museu de Lleida renuncia a la posició de la Generalitat sobre Sijena

The former observer of the Museu de Lleida and current member of the plenary Albert Velasco has resigned from «the position of the Generalitat de Catalunya, unworthy and reprehensible,» regarding the mural paintings of the Sijena monastery preserved at the MNAC.

His message to «X» on Friday was reported by Europa Press, attaching the resignation letter, where he states that the government’s attitude «should lead to several resignations in the Department of Culture.»

«It has been reported in the media that the Generalitat is acting against the interests of the MNAC (and the country)» before the Supreme Court ruling on the transfer to Aragon of the Romanesque frescoes from the Monastery of Santa Maria de Sijena located at the MNAC in Barcelona.

### The MNAC

This Friday, the board of the MNAC stated in a press release that the technical group for the paintings (with members of the central, Catalan, and Aragonese governments, the City Council of Barcelona, and the MNAC) had already held 2 meetings at the museum.

The statement added that the MNAC will «imminently» present before the court its announced execution of the sentences: the board unanimously approved informing the court of the «technical incapacity» of the Museum to transfer the paintings within the period established by civil procedure law.

On Friday, the Parliament approved a motion urging the government to «file an execution incident and, if necessary, explore and take other legal actions» before the ruling, and asked the government to apply the criteria used in other fragile products before (the motion by Junnts was approved with the «yes» of PSC-Units, Junts, Erc, Comuns, Cu. Pp, and Vox).
